berlin based techno titan frank muller adopts his beroshima alias for a new four track ep that is already been hailed by the likes of marcel dettman and laurent garnier. first emerging in the nineties, muller has since become a techno great who has played from asia to south america and beyond. he’s had plenty of underground hits on the likes of cocoon and soma, and held some key residencies over the years. always one to command your attention with his multi layered grooves, this ep features an old juan atkins sample “buy some shit from detroit” that has been part of beroshima’s live sets for years. excellent opener ‘encounter’ reflects a recent idea jeff mills and muller had to produce tracks together for a not yet produced sci-fi movie. it is an eight-minute astral techno trip with smooth, driving drums and plenty of intergalactic synth lines. ‘the passion of lovers’ transfers the organic beroshima style into 2018 and shows off frank’s passion for spaced out electronica. it’s a brilliantly bumping cut with lithe synths and melodies adding that soul and colour as it races through the galaxies. the iconic ‘buy some’ with the atkins sample then surges into the future with icy hi hats dancing over rubbery drums. the warped synths take the lead and bring a real sense of off kilter energy to this most timeless bit of techno. last of all is the fantastic space mix of ‘encounter’ which is dreamy and cinematic with exquisite keys and pads colouring in a huge night sky as the drums drive things along. this is an archetypal techno ep filled with cosmic colours and serene emotions.

after a few years on hiatus, one electronica has gone all out in with a heavy debut 4 tracker from new member thought camera. the young belfast born producer who has been very busy in the studio putting together an arsenal of electronic weapons has also enjoyed an increase in popularity and profile in the local scene due to his hard work and commitment to the cause. with such a strong release about to drop in the next few weeks and with more unreleased material on its way this guy is worth keeping an eye on as a rising talent. without using too many bullshit analogies – this is release is simply dancefloor bliss and a djs dream that will be keep at the front of a record box for years to come and could be a favourite among various styles. the title track astral pilot comes in strong with spatial glitchy electronic chatter and tubular echoes that are pretty damn haunting. headspace comes in on a2 which is the antithesis of serenity and meditation that the name suggests. this acidic jack track is upbeat and laden with bass bleeding all over the place. flip it over and you have lifeforms on the b1 which is the most technical track on the release which ebbs and flows between solemn and sombre leaving you emotionally twisted yet intrigued this is one to look out for! obsession which aptly depicts this track a stalker in the night, haunting, imposing, friday 13th shit. not for the faint hearted.

making his return to the label after last year s springtime favorite, everlast, is dorsi plantar. better listen s twelfth entry in the main run marks their first repeat of an artist, and the copenhagen man does not disappoint. tack farsan is a balanced sample-driven ep intended to milk the last of summer s flavors for the dancefloors enjoyment. the top side hosts sunny disco affairs in the release s title track, and a polished collab with label mate sune. the logo side, on the other hand, explodes into deep latin affairs.

french producer lb aka labat returns with a new lp named “fake memories” on his own label alélah records. he surprises us with some more hip-hop and r’n’b music, liberating his love for jazz rythms and harmonics. known for his talent at playing with samples, this new lp expresses his actual potential, offering a large use of instrumental stuff : violin and piano chords, guitar riffs… together with delicate voices that balance with the old school drums and procure gentleness to the sharp hats. the b3 eponymous track even discloses the man’s voice, with lyrics sang by himself

counterweight welcomes to the label the rising berlin artist opål with this excellent 4-track full of techno ep... the title track, luminescence, is a rough and hard hitting 4/4 warehouse destroyer. -impala- reduces the tension and shows a more melodic side of the artist but still keeping his characteristic industrial touch. on the b side opål shows what is the definition of -driving- techno with -eclipse-, this is simply amazing. the last track is an absolutely outstanding remix by the italian artist pvs, who explores new atmospheric shapes and goes beyond simple 4/4 structures. pump up the volume, this is real shit!

following jacques renault’s sophomore album,&#8203,,,, bkclubbeats, breaks & versions&#8203,,,,,which we dropped in july, is a sort of addendum, epilogue, encore. as you’ll recall, we released a cassette edition of the lp that was all ten tracks laced together, eighties/nineties mixtape-style, and topped off with five bonus tunes. what we present you with here is that extra material etched into vinyl for easier club use and personal playback.

gabriella vergilov returns to the label s vinyl arm with a set of distinctive hardware techno reuminations to send shivers down your spine. termosfera strides in confidently with a grinding mechanical synth hook that subtly shifts around the 4/4 drum pattern like all the best wormhole techno should. siempre loco is a sparser affair that focuses on space and poise, using minimal ingredients for maximum effect. boring shit bucks against the suggestion of its title to fire off a set of rhythmical cycles that feel indebted to the vast outer reaches of space. detroit hero t-1000 runs with this idea and pings the track into a particularly funky star system somewhere very far away from planet earth.

wow, how time flies. i can’t believe i am putting out record number five already. this release comes from star of the future adam pits. i have known adam for a long time as he was a few years below me at school and then proceeded to go to uni in leeds like i did. he is from the same crew as breaka, and there must be something in the water up there because these guys and the rest of their mates are producing the best shit in town right now. it is a privilege to put out adam’s first piece of wax because these two tunes are dynamite from start to finish. all three tracks are produced and sculpted for the club. they want big sound systems and dark rooms. close your eyes, hold hands and experience transcendental space flight...

seth troxler & the martinez brothers’ tuskegee music welcomes chicago legend k- alexi shelby for a new ep that features some essential solo cuts as well as two great collaborations with tony lovlesss. k-alexi is a genuine chicago great. he’s been at the core of the scene since the eighties and releasing his raw grooves on dj international, trax and transmat, as well as his own k klassik label. he has recently remixed for seth troxler’s other label, say it play it, but is now back serving up the sort of engaging originals that have made him such an enduring star.

it is undeniable that bjarki and his bbbbbb imprint are at the forefront of iceland’s dance music scene, playing a vital role in asserting the country as a hub for genre bending electronic music. although the label has proved to be a solid platform for bjarkis own experimental material, bbbbbb continues to host some of icelands best talents (notably last year’s lauded release from volruptus who followed up with another killer outing on &#1090,,&#1088,,&#1080,,&#1087,,). for bbbbbb’s 10th release bjarki continues to substantiate his a&r abilities, introducing the world to lord pusswhip. having enjoyed a meteoric rise as a key player in icelands hip-hop scene, the young producers sound has continued to evolve since befriending bjarki and the bbbbbb crew, and the hand of glory ep now sees him at arguably his most adventurous and experimental yet. murky atmospherics introduce xmas jam creep before a cacophony of percussion ups the energy, setting the tone for a dynamic release. crazy shit mane follows with its crunchy drums, scintillating synths and sultry bass until hop out the car blends hip-hop vocals with mesmerising chord sequences reminiscent of richard d.james early work. an undulating bassline then works alongside a chorus of angelic voices in ‘the hand of glory, making way for the syncopated and dreamlike shroomm0(u)rning. moving into ambient territories, green house living layers pads and samples together to generate an otherworldly aesthetic until choppa hard combines ominous drones with a steady beat to conclude the release.
